When we presented at the front reception, we were assisted by a staff member named Humaid Saif. I explained clearly and explicitly that my daughter is 9 years old and was experiencing symptoms related to her Crohnu2019s disease. Despite this, Mr. Saif booked us in to see a doctor who was not qualified to treat children. In fact, after waiting for over an hour, we were told that this doctor was not allowed to see pediatric patients at all, as he does not work in pediatrics.nnThis was the first breakdown in what turned into a distressing and chaotic ordeal. After finally being informed that we needed a pediatric specialist, we were passed from one doctor to anotheru2014none of whom specialized in Crohnu2019s disease, and none who could provide the care or assessment my daughter urgently needed. We spent another hour being sent from department to department, repeating our story, trying to get someoneu2014anyoneu2014who could help.nnAfter a total of more than 2.5 hours of waiting, with my child growing increasingly uncomfortable and distressed, I returned to the front desk to ask why this situation had unfolded the way it did. Mr. Saifu2019s response was not only unhelpfulu2014it was completely dismissive. He told me, u201cItu2019s not my problem.u201d To be told thisu2014after watching my daughter in pain and out of school for hours with no medical assistanceu2014was deeply upsetting.nnThis is not just poor service; it reflects a systemic failure in patient intake, communication, and basic empathy. When families bring a sick child to a hospital, they are putting their trust in the staff and the system. We expect to be treated with respect and to be directed to appropriate careu2014not misinformed, delayed, and brushed off.nnThe outcome of this experience was:nu2022tMy daughter received no treatment or consultationnu2022tWe lost a full day of school and worknu2022tMy child was left in pain and distress for hours, needlesslynu2022tI was told by a hospital staff member that my concerns were u201cnot [his] problemu201dnnThis is completely unacceptable in any healthcare setting, let alone one that deals with vulnerable children.nnI urge you to look into this incident seriously.
